Elizabeth Banks was praising the arc of her Effie Trinket character in the “Hunger Games” movies when she veered into a takedown of white women who voted for Donald Trump over Democrat Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. (Watch the video below.)

“The Miniature Wife” star took the political detour on Bustle’s “One Nightstand” podcast, posted Tuesday.

Banks described Effie’s growth from propping up a fascist regime to realizing it was unjust. “By the end, she’s like a revolutionary,” the actor said. “She gets turned by the events of it. … I wish more of us were becoming revolutionaries!”

The actor continued, “Effie is the model, guys! I don’t understand the 53% of white ladies that didn’t vote for Kamala. What were you thinking?”

Interviewer Charlotte Owen quickly moved on by asking Banks if her children had watched “The Hunger Games.”

Fast-forward to 27:40 for Banks’ comments about the election:

Exit polling revealed that Trump collected the majority of ballots from white women as he swept critical swing states in a convincing victory.

Banks staunchly supported Harris in the lead-up to the election.

In October 2024, the actor warned followers on Instagram about what was on the line.

“I’m sitting here feeling inspired and so hopeful after meeting these incredible people who work day in and day out for the Harris/Walz campaign,” she wrote. “Our rights, our freedom, and our access to healthcare are literally at stake. Please, please, please check your registration status and make a plan for Election Day. 19 days! Let’s go!”
