Former Hollywood Workers Are Revealing If They Regret It And Why They Left For Good

“I have worked with 19 people in the last three years (actors, writers, directors, DPs) and of those 19, only six were not clinically deranged narcissists with black holes where their hearts should be.” "I recently met a bunch of sailors with the Canadian coast guard, and it was uncanny how similar the two industries are. I felt like I was hanging out on set with grips and electros and set carpenters. There's a LOT of parallels between the personalities, skillsets, and lifestyles." "I was in the middle of quitting all things media-related and was offered a full-time role in finance. It's been stable and boring, but once I sold off the rest of my equipment, it felt like a breath of fresh air. I've been editing for fun again, mostly my own clips in nature and cheesy tributes to old TV shows, and it's actually inspired me to get back into filmmaking, but not right now. I have a stable job, and I was never really that invested because of all the ambiguity and ever-changing roles in projects that weren't even mine. I spent so much time helping others that I never gave enough love and care to my own ideas. This break has given me a lot more confidence to work on my skills while I hold a dull, stable job."
